Hey guys, I hope you’re doing well.
I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this before here, but I’ve been reading through the bible from the beginning. I’ve now just finished the book of Joshua. One thing I’ve noticed, is that every step of the way God was leading and walking with the children of Israel. Though they may have strayed away at some points, but God was leading them throughout.
Exodus 14:13 “But Moses told the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the LORD’s salvation, which He will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians you see today, you will never see again.”
Deuteronomy 13:1 “When you go out to war against your enemies and see horses, chariots, and an army larger than yours, do not be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, is with you.”
Joshua 1:5 “No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
I was reminded last week of the scripture 2 Chronicles 20:15 “And he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the LORD to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.”
I get overwhelmed quite a lot, most of the time because I get stuck in my own head and start worrying and then I end up in a spiral and really get nowhere. I am very grateful to my close ones who remind me that don’t worry, and just trust that God will make things all work out.
If God who put in so much detail into the building of the ark and the temple in books of Exodus and Deuteronomy (believe me, so much detail is in there), why can’t He do the same for me. My step-dad said something so powerful to me the other day, he said “People nowadays are getting so stressed because they’re taking the battle into their own hands, when the battle belongs to God”. That hit the nail on the head for me.
We’re worrying and constantly panicking, and not giving it to God. I’m not saying don’t have plans for your life, and don’t have desires. But give it all to God. Submit it to God in prayer. “God I really want to achieve this and this, I ask you to help me, and lead me according to your will”. Why? Because we trust that He has the greatest plan for us.
Recently I’ve been thinking a lot about my future particularly now that graduation is coming, I tend to put a lot of pressure on myself to have a plan and have everything sorted. And the pressure leads to breakdowns upon breakdowns. But unfortunately life doesn’t work out like that. Life doesn’t always work in our exact plan or always in our favour.
But I keep having to remind myself that even when things don’t work out the way I want to, I trust that God has a greater plan. I submit everything to God in prayer, and I do what I can right now. I don’t need to overwhelm myself worrying about tomorrow or five weeks or five years. Because there’s nothing I can do about it. What I can do is focus on today. Focus on right now. Pray about it, pray to God for the strength to do what I need to do for now. And that’s it.
If you’re like me, it’s easier said than done. Firstly, have your vision, write it down, don’t allow yourself to stress and battle in your mind. It’s not your battle. It doesn’t belong to you. Give it back to God. Your future, in as much as we say it’s in our hands, but give it back to God. Trust that He knows your desires, He sees you and He knows the perfect time when things should work. It will all fall into place, when God’s time is right.
The more we begin to lean on Him, and not ourselves, the less pressure we put on ourselves. I’m not saying it’s gonna all be smooth sailing. But God doesn’t change. He’s the same God who led the children of Israel step by step. Let God lead you step by step.
I hope this has encouraged someone. As you enter into the new week, ask God to lead you. Don’t overwhelm yourself with worry or stress. Trust in Him. Lean on Him. Take all your concerns to Him in prayer, and ask God to take over.
I love you all so very much,
God bless x
