Hey guys!
I hope you’re doing well and staying safe. As a child (let me not lie, as an adult too) Christmas is my favourite time of year. I love the festivities, I love seeing nativities, it’s just a wonderful time (until I realised being an adult meant actually buying all the gifts! But anyway!). However, there was one day in school, leading up to Easter weekend, and our religious education teacher said how Easter is the most important event for Christians. We didn’t get any scriptural references, but confused, thinking but isn’t Jesus coming the most important think, hence Christmas?
Well, today I’m going to take you through some scriptures, just to remind us of the importance of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ! I’ll take you through some scriptures that I’ve been reading through. [Note, I’m sharing what I have been studying, there are so many scriptures about the resurrection of Jesus, so I would love to hear from you if you have a scripture you love that I didn’t include]. Anyway! Let’s go.

During this season, we remember that Christ died for our sins, being the sacrifice/atonement for all sins. In as much as His death was so important, the Christian faith would be nothing without the resurrection of Jesus.
1 Corinthians 15: 13-14 “If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. 14 And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.”
So why is the resurrection so important?
When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, this brought sin and death (physical and spiritual death), as God had warned them (Read Genesis chapters 2 & 3). Therefore through one man, death came, therefore another man would have to conquer death (1 Corinthians 15:21 – 22: For since death came through a a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. 22 For as in Adam, all die, so in Christ all will be made alive).
Jesus came, to fulfil the law of Moses and bring the new covenant between God and man (all humans), and He brought grace! So that all who believe in Him would not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16). However, in order to have that everlasting life, Jesus had to defeat the death that came as a result of the Sin of Adam and Eve (Romans 6:9 tells us that Christ has defeated death, death has no mastery over Him).
How would Christ defeat death? Through resurrection!
I hope you’re still with me and I haven’t confused you. I’ve created a little diagram to illustrate my point

Through the dying and resurrecting of Jesus Christ, this means that we too will live even after our physical body dies. We will experience eternal life with the Father in Heaven. Death is no longer the end. But in fact it’s the beginning of eternity with God, for those who believe.
When we get baptised, it also symbolises the death and resurrection, leaving the old life behind and becoming the new (Romans 6:4; 1 Corinthians 5:17). Through the blood of Jesus, we are cleansed, therefore making our bodies temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:9-10).
Had Christ not been raised from dead, we would still be in sin (1 Corinthians 15:17), thus making it so important!
John 3:16 ” 16 “For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] [a]only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life.” [AMPLIFIED].
One final thing, not only did Christ resurrect, but HE IS THE RESURRECTION! How can He be the resurrection Tadi? Well let me explain. John 11:25 (NKJV) 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” He is life. He is the resurrection. Through Him, though our bodies die, we will live in eternity with Him!
God loves you so much! I hope this reminds you of the importance of what happened 2000 years ago. Jesus died, and rose again, just so you will be free from sin and have everlasting life! He died to fix and rose again, so that we may be once again the children of God, in the family, joint heirs with Christ Himself! I remind you again, God loves you so so much, that He gave His only Son! For you. I encourage you, come to Him!
Lord Jesus, come into my heart. I confess that I am a sinner, in need of a saviour. I ask you to forgive me and cleanse me. I believe that you died, and rose again on the third day to save me. Thank you for dying for my sins. I ask you to be the Lord and saviour of my life. I invite you to make your home in me, and I in you. Thank you Lord. In Jesus name I Pray, Amen.
