Hey guys, I hope you’re doing well and staying safe.
One of the fundamentals of Christianity is Faith. The bible tells us that without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). Faith being the unwavering, complete and total trust in God.
For this reason, our faith is something that is attacked the most. And one of the ways is through fear and anxiety. The bible tells us time and time again, be anxious for nothing! (Philippians 4:6). The moment that you leave things into Gods hands, you’re removing the control from yourself and saying God, I completely and trust you with this. But what can happen, and what I was experiencing this week, is that even when you leave everything to God little anxious thoughts can appear in your head and try shake your faith.
One story is of Peter walking on the water, going towards Jesus. He had enough faith to step but, but when he noticed the winds and the waves and the storm, he started to sink. (Matthew 14:22-33)
Some of us may have the faith to say “I know God can help me here, and He will make a way”. But when we start to observe the storms in our life, start to look at circumstances that are around us, that’s why we begin to fall and become overwhelmed.
Jesus didn’t say to Peter oh ye of no faith, but he said “oh ye of little faith, why did you doubt?” Peter had a little but he allowed doubt to win.
There are times where doubtful thoughts may pop in, but this is the time where you can fight fear with faith.
Where does faith come from? – Faith comes by hearing, hearing by the word of God. (Romans 10:17).Stay in the scriptures. Keep encouraging yourself! Here’s a link to scriptures encouraging about faith: https://www.biblemoneymatters.com/bible-verses-about-faith/. Read scriptures of people with faith, the best place to find some of these people is Hebrews 11
Matthew 21:22 – And whatever you ask for in prayer, believing, you will receive.” [AMP]
Hebrews 11:6 – And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
Hebrews 11:1 – Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
Mark 11:22-24 – And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
Luke 1:37 – For with God nothing [is or ever] shall be impossible. [AMP]
Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
2 Corinthians 5:7 – For we walk by faith, not by sight.
How do we activate faith? – SPEAK IT! Jesus said if you have the faith of a mustard seed, you will say to the mountain be moved, and it will move. It’s about speaking it! Speak positive, “I will pass my degree” “I will be healed” “God has a future for me, He won’t let me down”.
What practical steps can I take? Keep on praying to God, be honest with Him, but tell Him how you have the hunger and you want to have the faith. Tell Him how hard sometimes it is, but that you want to stay in faith! Surround yourself with people who have faith, and are going to speak positive things with you.
I heard this lovely quote, and it’s resonated with me all week “We trust our uncertain future, in a certain God”. That’s what faith is about. Accepting that we don’t know what will happen. Having the strength to hope for better. And leaving everything into the hands of the one who has seen the past, and the future, and is with you in this present moment.
I hope this encourages you and helps you! It helped me to write it, and just to remind myself to have faith over fear. That when thoughts come, fight fear with faith… Keep on trusting in God.
Thank you so much, and I hope you have a great day.
