Hey guys, and a good evening to you. This is a late one (23:15 here!).
Today had been one of those days where I find one thing and then obsessively stress about it until I find myself in a downward spiral of worry and anxiety. And it takes prayer to unwind and get out of.
The Holy Spirit reminded me of Proverbs 3:5-6. (I’m beginning to think this is my verse/ these are my verses of the season I’m currently in. Because for some reason I’m always always being drawn back to them).
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV
Recently a friend of mine and I have been reading through the book of Genesis on the Bible plans, and one common theme I’m beginning to uncover is that God always wanted us to trust Him and to rely on Him.
Adam didn’t have to worry about where his food would come from, all he had to do was to maintain the garden, name the animals, but God had already provided for Him. Even when he needed a wife, God created one suitable for Adam. And even after the garden of Eden, God would continue to provide. He provided the rain and instructions for the Ark. Time and time again he provided for Abraham, direction where to stay, insight of what he was going to do next, where to go, a child when he thought he couldn’t have children. And I believe God is still in the business of providing !
What we may feel is the darkest of times, may be the perfect time for God to shine through whatever we are going through. Now when I look at proverbs 3:5-6, it’s about trust. It’s about completely believing God will show up. The reverse of worry is trust! Because when you trust, you know that whatever happens is for your best interest, you know that God is going to make a way. You don’t look and focus on the problem, but look towards the one who has the solutions! No matter what.
So, whether it’s educational, financial, emotional, relational, whatever is stressing you, keeping you up at night. Give it to God. He is still in the business of working miracles and changing situations around. Trust Him! He’s an expert at what He does.
A father would never want their child worrying and stressing, so why would you think it pleases God to know that you’re tossing and turning. He’s probably wondering if my child would only give this to me! And focus on rejoicing and worshipping and thanking in advance because I’m gonna fix it.
Take it out of your hands and out of your mind, and give it to the Lord in prayer! Worry less. Pray more.
May God bless you
