One thing I prayed for at the start of the year was that God will make me see people the way that He sees people. Often we look at peoples current circumstances or through judgemental eyes, and just see someone and think they’re a nobody.
But what does God say, the one who created them? He made human beings in His own image and likeliness. Each and everyone we were formed and have a purpose. (Genesis 1:26)
I remember speaking about this in a previous post, but I thought to reiterate this again. That you yourself shouldn’t look down on yourself, or even label yourself or put yourself down, why? Because you have no idea where you’ll be. You have no idea where God can take you. Likewise, nor should you think yourself above someone else, or brag you’re better than anyone, because we don’t know what tomorrow can bring. The same person you’re shunning and calling a nobody, will be the same one you’re looking for.
Therefore, don’t undermine the importance of even one person. I once heard this saying that if you think one small thing can’t make a difference, try getting a good nights sleep with a mosquito in the room. That thing will be flying about and you’ll be chasing after it.
So, my point being is that, we have no idea the value of something tomorrow. We as human beings, it’s high time we treasured each other and see each and every person as someone who is important and they have something within them. Despite where they are. And also don’t discredit yourself too.
God doesn’t look for perfect people, but He uses those who are imperfect, often overlooked by society, some may even doubt themselves, but God uses whom ever he chooses! He wants you as you are, so long as you’re willing. Let me give you some examples:
Moses – he had a speech impediment, yet God called him to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt. He was someone who had run away from his past, and was lacking in an area of speech, yet God still decided to use him. Moses even questioned and looked down on himself because he didn’t speak well. But, God found him and took him just as he was. (Exodus 3 & 4)
Rahab – so, when we look at Rahab, she was a prostitute, and everybody knew it. Yet, she is accounted in the hall of faith (Hebrews 11), one of the greats, and she’s named as part of the lineage, which led to Jesus. Imagine how many people would’ve counted her as nothing but a prostitute, and that she wouldn’t do much, but God used her! (Joshua 2, 6)
Women such as Ruth and Hannah Ruth, when we think about it, she was a widow , she had lost her husband and brothers in law, she didn’t have much apart from her mother in law, yet she ended up finding her husband, and gave birth to David (future King’)’s grandad. Hannah, with her not being able to give birth, mocked and seen as nothing by her husbands other wife, BUT GOD! She birthed the prophet Samuel. Sarah didn’t even believe herself. She didn’t see a future with a child, but God!
And I’ve not even started on the New Testament yet! The like of Paul (who was met on the road right where he was, on the way to persecute Christians, but God!). Matthew, tax collected, thieves in society , taking money for themselves. Peter who time and time again who messed up, even around Jesus, whether denying Jesus or cutting an ear off ! But he was the rock they built the church on.
David – he is one of my best examples. He wasn’t very big, yet he defeated the great Goliath. He was shunned by his brothers. They saw him as just the shepherd. They didn’t think much of him. At all! But God!
My point is, from the outside looking in, we would’ve counted these people for nothing. Due to their past, or even present we would’ve decided on their futures, or what we thought it would or will be. But as they were, they were still beneficial. Flaws and all! It didn’t matter what they thought of themselves or what others thought of them.
But when God sees us, He sees his workmanship. He created us. He loves you. He sees you , right where you are! The bible says whilst we were still sinners Christ died for us. He saw us, in our state and still wanted to call us home. He didn’t come for righteous people it people who think they’re better than everyone.
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.””
Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV
He sees you broken. He sees you in your tired state. He knows you’re not perfect, but you weren’t meant to do it on your own ! He doesn’t say fix yourself then come to me. He just wants you to make that decision in your heart.
So in my conclusion, I hope I’ve made sense, that we can’t decide someone’s future based on their present circumstances. We can’t rule people as failures, or not worth something. No matter what they’ve been though where they are . Even though a £20 note can be stomped and crumpled on. It still has value. God can decide to use anyone! But most importantly, he sees you, where you are, and still loves you. Regardless.
Appreciate people , and see them and respect people. Don’t wait for it to be too late to appreciate people! They’re also made for a purpose and are a blessing in their own, so don’t ever render someone or yourself useless. You have no idea where God can use them or take them.
Thank you , I hope you’re safe. And I hope you’re well.
