Proverbs 3:5 trust in the lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight
Lean
In my previous post, I talked about God being our fortress and our hiding place. Where we find safety and assurance. I also explained that a fortress is used by the military to protect against attacks from the other side, or is someone who is strong, unchanging and unmovable.
When an individual leans on something. This means they are relying on something else to hold them up. This may be due to tiredness, due to feeling weak, you are no longer able to hold yourself up as normal, but you’re having to depend on another to help you.
However, when it comes to leaning, the weight of the object you are leaning on, must be stronger than your weight. An adult cannot use a twig in order to uphold them, but they use strong crutches, or a stick.
You have to rely on something that is durable. That won’t change. That has stood the test of time. When the bible tells us not to lean on our own understanding this suggests that our understanding can waver. What we think we understand is different from what we actually do. Therefore we can’t rely on our own understanding but better yet to rely on God.
Why? Because He is never changing. He is strong, He is a fortress and a stronghold, His name is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe!(psalms 18:10). Leaning on what we know only isn’t wise, as what we know can be easily influenced by everything around us. Like a sponge we intake everything sometimes, good and bad, true and false.
Finally in the verse the bible says, in ALL your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. In all areas of your life, involve Him! He wants to be with you and help you. He will make your paths straight, and lead you down the right one, for your benefit.
So, in this season and time where there is a lot of uncertainty, you don’t have to do it all alone, but involve God! Lean on Him!
Thank you so much for reading, happy Sunday!
Peace, joy & love ♥️
