Life Update: Exams, 21st Birthday ft Corona!

Hey guys!

I actually didn’t realise just how long it has been since posted, of which I can only apologise. You know I read a quote which said ‘the best apology is changed behaviour’. This is just me subtly telling myself off for not posting in way over a month!

So, what has been going on?

First of all. Exams. Never before have exams exhausted me this much. I’ve been tired before, but this just felt all so different. I also learnt that when it comes to education, you cannot, and should not allow it to be the definition of who you are, and of your own success. Not that it isn’t important. However, a it’s not the definition of who you are. So, if something goes wrong, it doesn’t mean that you’re a failure. And that was my January Lesson! Also, I learn to work Smarter not Harder!

February, I learnt how to take a break, take a rest! And to enjoy myself! February is my birthday month, and TK turned 21 in style, and I am so thankful to my wonderful friends who made it so special. This involved taking a trip to Venice, seeing the carnival and the wonderful outfits. Then my birthday picnic, and surprise scavenger hunt around Padova and also a midnight picnic. Believe me, this birthday won’t be forgotten. I’ll post further my reflection of what I’ve learnt over these past few years leading up to my 21st.

My birthday picnic was done on my birthday eve (is that a thing?), but on my actual birthday, we had the news that there was a corona outbreak in the North of Italy, in my region and the region nearby. As a result, Padova quickly became pretty quiet that day and we got news that they would be closing the university, and churches for the week, until they had managed to contain the outbreak. Expectedly, the city quickly became pretty quiet, and I spent my actual birthday in bed, because a lot of shops were closed, and it was just a quiet uncertain time.

So, since my birthday, for the past week or so, we’ve just been told that the closing of university and public buildings is still continuing as a precautionary measure, as Italy has had now, the worst outbreak of Corona in Europe. Though Padova wasn’t directly hit, the whole region was just advised to stay safe! Staying inside at first is fun, Netflix, and eating, and chilling, but there comes a point that you just need like to get out, and you become so bored, your thoughts can often go wild. And fear can start to seep in, especially in time of uncertainty. However, God is faithful, and through this, I’ve learnt that I can still give thanks and find something to be grateful for, even when things aren’t perfect!

And in conclusion, God is good, even when I may not feel good, or when circumstances aren’t ! He’s still God.

I’m grateful for safety and for health ! And yes. I have no more excuses for not posting. Especially now I have nothing but time!

Thank you so much for reading, and enjoy some lovely pictures – of Venice and my birthday!

Peace, joy & love x

TK
