Hey! And welcome (back) to my blog!x
One aspect of my life that I wanted to work on is my ability to stay consistent. It’s often easy for me to start something, but when it comes to seeing it through to the end, with the same effort and energy I put in, it’s where I fall. And I’ll be honest! Often when I do finish, the effort that I put in at the end isn’t as great as I put in the beginning.
Let me give you an example, when it comes to going to the gym. In the first few days I was hype guys. I said let’s get it! We can do this. Snapping every moment and everything. It stayed like that for the first couple of months, then I lost it. Instead of three / four times a week, I was going maybe there three four times a month until it became a distant memory. If I had stayed consistent with the effort I put in at the beginning, my results would’ve been different! I went from super ready to be fit .. to ..:
Another example is with my relationship with God. I can maybe state that I want to read a chapter a day, or even more , one every morning one every evening , and in the beginning I could be doing well. I could say I want to pray everyday , three times a day for half an hour each time! Again things often start really well. However, consistency is the issue and keeping and upholding those standards that you set ! That’s where I’ll be honest I slipped.
So, when it came to setting my goals for this 2020, I realised for me, goal setting isn’t the issue. And even starting is a step which I can do, and I’m happy with that. It’s keeping up, and staying consistent even when you don’t feel like it!
I wrote in a post the other day that set attainable goals which you can build on. That doesn’t mean don’t aim high! Set yourself your goals long term and short term. But set yourself achievable daily goals.
Starting often is the hardest part , and how you start can determine how you continue. Have you heard the phrase start as you mean to go on? Keep up, stay consistent with yourself. Keep on going! The bible in Galatians tells us not to grow weary in doing good.
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
Galatians 6:9 NIV
Often we want to keep doing well but it’s hard as sometimes we don’t see the results straightaway. Or we just feel like there’s no point. But here, we are encouraged to not grow weary of doing good ! Keep going. Don’t give up.
So, here is my encouragement. I believe that God cares about building a relationship with you. Communicating with you often. Even if it’s when you’re driving, in the shower, whilst cooking. Pray without ceasing, stay consistent in prayer. Talk to Him! Let him know how you are. Stay in contact, as you would a physical friend. Building a relationship requires consistency.
I hope this post encourages you ! Have a fab week x
~ peace, joy & love ♥️.
