Happy sunday!
I just wanted to share a small message, continuing about patience.
Patience isn’t always an exciting thing, and especially if it’s God who’s told us to wait, it can often seem like this waiting will never end.
Luke 24:49 “Behold I send the Promise of my Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem, until you are endued with power from on high”. [NKJV] Jesus said this to His disciples when He was ascending to Heaven, Jesus told them to wait, until they receive power. And it’s estimated that between Jesus going up to heaven and the day of pentecost, it was around 8-10 days.
I imagine during those days, especially after Jesus had now gone back to heaven, and now you’re being told to wait, to receive power. I’m sure that maybe day one, people were okay with waiting, expectantly. Day two, three, four, they’re will hopeful, but after 7 days, still in that upper-room? People could have began to lose heart.
However, the word of God was fulfilled.
Habakkuk 2:3 “For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it will speak and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come. It will not tarry”. [NKJV] There are certain things we desire right now, but they’re for an appointed time. And that doesn’t mean on our time, but on God’s time, not on our schedule either. Have you ever thought to yourself that God is delaying? Like God is really taking His time with your job offer, with delivering you that ideal spouse, with that house? I know I have!
I heard a revelation regarding Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”[NIV]. The scripture doesn’t say “For you know the Plans I have for you”. Nor does it say “For I am going to consult you in making the plans I have for you”. But the word of God says “For I know the plans that I have for you. God knows what He has in His plan for us. The word of God reminds us that His thoughts are not the same as our thoughts, nor His ways the same as our ways. But they’re HIGHER than ours [Isaiah 55: 8 -9 ]. But it’s about trusting that He is a good father and He wants the best for us, more than we know. And He has a greater plan than we could ever even imagine.
Have you ever looked around and realised, how on earth did I get here? How meeting that person allowed you to meet another person and here you are with a job you never even qualified for, but still have. God has a funny way of making things turn around. More than you will ever know! Have you ever heard the saying “If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans”. And I suppose it’s an old saying, but it’s true, we can often say that by this year I’m gonna have ABC done in my life. However, God wants us trust Him.
Trusting God that, though the situation looks bleak, if your word has promised me something, I will wait until you bring it to pass. I won’t be complaining, I won’t huff and puff, but I will continue to do good. [Galatians 6:9 And Let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season, we shall reap, if we do not lose heart]. His Word will never come back void. It will always fulfill that to which He has sent it for [Isaiah 55:11].
You know, I think there’s a reason a lot of the scriptures God is putting in my mind are related to Isaiah 55. In some versions of the bible it gives a title for scripture passages, mine NKJV says An Invitation to Abundant life. Let it be a scripture for you this week.
And finally, keep on doing good! This week. Our next point in Galatians 5-A-Day is Kindness.
Have an amazing week!
God bless x
